Veiled in Flesh

Even though it has been 35 days/840 hours/50,400 minutes since Christmas, our son still loves to listen to Christmas music. One morning, as I was dusting and watching him sing, a particular phrase from “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” caught my attention. They sang “…veiled in flesh the God-head see…” I thought about the word “veiled” for a moment. This song meant that Jesus the Son of God was veiled–hidden– in flesh.

Then I realized something else: we are veiled in flesh too! “…we are a soul, we have a body.” George MacDonald wrote. This body is our veil. One day we will not have it anymore. All the work, all the focus on making our veils perfect will be gone. It is our soul that remains.

What will my soul look like?

What will your soul look like?
