There are times when my own thoughts, words and advice mock me. There are days when everything seems to have fallen apart and my own heart whispers “See, look what you have done,” or “Some Christian you are!” In discouraging moments like this, when my heart shouts “Guilty!” I must choose to look away from my despair and look into God’s Word.
“For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. (Romans 7:19)
“for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.” (I John 3:20, emphasis mine)
God is ‘greater than our heart and He knows everything’. He sees our intentions and our “meant to’s” and every day, He offers us the new mercy that we need. (Lam. 3:23)
As believers, how can we not help but turn towards Someone who does not condemn us? (John 3:17 & John 8:11)
Let us grasp His outstretched Hand and lift our gaze upward. Let us listen to His heart.
He says: “TAKE HEART…
…my son, your sins are forgiven. (Matt 9:2)
…my daughter, your faith has made you well. (Matt 9:22)
…Do not be afraid. (Mark 6:50)
…I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
His truth will set us free–even from our hearts.
