Though there are some slight differences of opinion and numbers on this subject; it is said that a person generally thinks “about 50,000 thoughts per day“. Wow! That’s a lot of thoughts. Can you imagine if we believed every one of them? Our life would be in complete chaos. We filter our thoughts through our lenses of reality, beliefs/ morals, and other criteria before we act on a thought. What we believe is how we act.  We choose to believe certain thoughts every day.

While our heart is “deceitful above all things”(Jer 17:9), our mind can be “unstable in all our ways.” (James 1:8)

We do the very things we hate. (Rom 1:17)

“But I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.” (Rom. 7:23)

1) The good news is that God is greater than our mind.

Isaiah 55:9

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

2)He will renew our minds. (Rom. 12:2)(Ps. 51:10)

3) Even greater news: we are in God’s thoughts. (Psalm 139:17)

God will:

  •  “complete what He appoints for me, and many such things are on His mind..” (Job 23:14) He plans to give us a future and hope. (Jer 29:11)
  •  give our mind wisdom and understanding if we ask. (Job 38:36)(John 14:14)

4) Let us keep our minds and thoughts on the One who prepares and plans our future. He awaits us and says:

“For behold, I create new heavens

and a new earth,

and the former things shall not be remembered

or come into mind. “

(Is  65:17, emphasis mine)
